Championing mental health - working towards social equity for all
Carolina Berinstein, Manager, Access and Equity, Canadian Mental Health Association - Toronto Branch
Carolina is a strong leader in the areas of access and equity, particularly as they relate to community health.
Carolina Berinstein is committed to reducing health and social inequities, and has 15 years experience planning, implementing and evaluating programs and research projects to address health equity. At CMHA-Toronto, Carolina has brought together internal and external stakeholders, including consumers, front-line staff, senior management and board, to develop a 3-year organizational change strategy to advance health equity. Previously, as a health promoter, she worked on access and equity issues pertaining to newcomer communities. Carolina has led community engagement projects, participated on research projects, and carried out numerous workshops and presentations in the non-profit sector on newcomer, access and equity issues. She has also co-authored a number of reports.
Carolina will use her grant funds to work with a leadership coach over six months, who will help her identify her personal leadership strengths and values and craft a plan on how to maximize them as well as defining innovative ways of leading organizational change efforts.
