We have more than 325 individual, family, corporate and agency endowment Fundholders under our umbrella, as well as our own community endowment, the Vital Toronto Fund. We currently seek to add a new member to our Development team who will play a key role in supporting the growth of the Foundation’s Fundholder base.
The Role
The Development and Prospect Research Officer is a member of the Philanthropic Services team, reporting to the Vice President Philanthropic Services.
He/she is primarily internally focused on developing new prospect pipelines; providing in depth prospect research; data management related to tracking the progress of prospect development; internal processes related to completion of new Fundholder agreements. For the next two to three years a significant portion of his/her activities will be focused on supporting a major fundraising initiative for the Community Foundation.
Selected Duties and Responsibilities
Prospect Management and Research
- Proactively develops an ongoing pipeline of new potential prospects.
- Prepares in depth prospect profiles and briefing packages.
- Prepares presentation materials for prospect specific proposals.
- Maintains database information related to all prospect development activities.
New Funds and Gifts processing
- Works with all departments to ensure seamless internal processes for establishing new Funds and receiving gifts.
Other Duties
- Participates as an active member of the overall team with input on cross-team initiatives that support the Foundation.
Skills and Attributes
- Minimum of 3 years related development and research experience in the non-profit sector.
- University degree in a related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a dedicated team player.
- Flexible and self-motivated.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience using a donor database.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
