Going to print with a solution for homeless youth
The Vandewater Charitable Foundation and Eva's Initiatives

Eva’s Initiatives an organization that provides shelter for homeless youth, drug and alcohol counselling and employment training programs, created an innovative program that trains street youth to work in the printing industry. This unique program called Foundations of Print continues to graduate successful classes of young people who now have the opportunity for a promising future and real skill set. The students receive intensive training and apprentice in the Phoenix Print Shop, a full service commercial print shop administered by Eva’s Initiatives. When the Vandewater Charitable Foundation heard about the this program they were able to rely on the Toronto Community Foundation’s previous reviews to know if it was a viable program and what sort of results they could expect by directing granting dollars towards the Phoenix Print Shop. They wanted to know their grants were helping get kids off the street.

The Vandewater Charitable Foundation supports high-impact community organizations in partnership with the Toronto Community Foundation. They rely on the Community Foundation’s community knowledge to achieve their philanthropic goals and leave a legacy of community empowerment for the future through their endowment.
