Vital People grant deadline extended to October 12, 2010
Grant program recognizes and supports valued leaders in Toronto.

If you know a non-profit superstar, you now have a little more time to nominate them for a Vital People grant from the Toronto Community Foundation.

This year's deadline has officially been extended until 5.00 pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 to allow everyone a little more time to get their nominations filed.

Some of our past Vital People grantees include:

Jane Farrow, Executive Director, Jane's Walk
Jane will use her 2009-2010 Vital People grant to travel to the Netherlands in the fall of 2010 to attend the International Walk 21 Conference and to present her groundbreaking Walkability Studies in high-rise neighbourhoods in Toronto.

Suhail Abualsameed, Coordinator, Newcomer Immigrant Youth Program at Sherbourne Health Centre
Suhail used his grant in 2007-2008 to travel to South Africa to attend and present at an international conference in Islam and HIV/AIDS.

Dave Meslin, Community Choreographer and activist-at-large
Dave used his 2006-2007 Vital People grant to help him enhance his leadership skills at a time when her was forming a series of new initiatives, including the Toronto Cyclists Union.

Kofi Frempong, Community Health Worker, Black Creek Community Health Centre
Kofi used his 2007-2008 grant to study the social determinants of health affecting urban youth by taking health promotion classes at York University.

Yvonne Bambrick, Director of Communications and Events, Toronto Cyclists Union
Yvonne used her 2008-2009 grant to attend an intensive leadership course at the Hollyhock Institute in British Columbia.
