
David Lewis-Peart is the MSM (Men Who Have Sex With Men) HIV Prevention Program and Research Coordinator with the Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP) in Toronto.
A dynamic and driven emerging leader, David has overcome considerable challenges to become a respected social services professional and researcher in his field. As a former high school drop out, and ward of the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, David has remained committed to pursuing projects that work to reach the vulnerable, racialized and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual (LGBT) youth communities of which he has been a part.
David has worked as a trained social services counsellor and consultant over the past 6 years, with organizations such as the Metro Action Committee on Violence Against Women (METRAC), Central Toronto Youth Services, the Center for Addictions and Mental Health, LOFT community services, and Fife House.
David will use his Vital People grant to complete his Masters program at York University where his area of study has been Black MSM youth, Community interventions, and Evaluation.
