Julie Frost has spent her career mixing educational opportunity with creative arts programming. She is the Artistic Director of Arts for Children & Youth (AFCY), an innovative arts education organization.
Shortly after joining AFCY, Julie initiated their tremendously successful outreach program bringing artist-educators to schools and community centres in Toronto’s “priority neighbourhoods”.
In 2007, the program won the Mayor’s Arts Award. She is currently setting up a teacher training program for community artists.
As part of the organization’s succession plan, Julie will take on the role of Executive Director in 2009. In preparation, she is taking courses in non-profit management at the Rotman School of Business, attending professional development workshops at York University on leadership and fundraising, and participating in several arts-related conferences.
